Monday's basketball roundup: Detroit rolls to win

Anton Wilson scored 14 and Juwan Howard Jr. 12 for Detroit (3-2) in a 69-55 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore at the Progressive Legends Classic in Toledo on Monday.

Brandan Kearney and Paris Bass had 11 apiece for the Titans.

Western Carolina 88, (at) Oakland 79 (2OT): Western Carolina's James Sinclair slammed home a dunk with 23 seconds left in double overtime for the win. Kahlil Felder had 26 points and six assists for Oakland (0-4).

(At) San Diego 77, Western Michigan 70: Johnny Dee scored 21 points for San Diego (3-1). David Brown led the Broncos (3-1) with 20 points, with Tucker Haymond and Austin Richie each contributing 16 points.

Kansas State 88, Purdue 79: At the Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii, Marcus Foster scored 24 to lead Kansas State (3-1). Purdue (3-1) fought its way back into it behind Kendall Stephens, who scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half.

Maryland 78, Arizona State 73: At the CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo., Melo Trimble scored all but two of his 14 points in the second half, helping Maryland to a semifinals victory over Arizona State. The Terps (4-0) advance to play No. 13 Iowa State in Tuesday's title game.

Eastern Washington 88, (at) Indiana 86: Drew Brandon scored a career-high 27 points, and Eastern Washington (4-1)used a late 9-0 run to stun Indiana. Indiana (4-1) was led by Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell with 27 points.

(At) Illinois 89, Brown 68: Aaron Cosby scored 18 points, with 13 in the first five minutes of the second half, as Illinois (4-0) topped Brown (1-4).

(At) Iowa 72, Pepperdine 61: Senior Aaron White scored 17 points with nine rebounds and Iowa (3-2) held off Pepperdine (3-1), snapping a two-game losing streak.

(At) No. 11 Kansas 87, Rider 60: Brannen Greene scored 17 points off the bench, Perry Ellis also had 17 points and No. 11 Kansas (2-1) rebounded from an embarrassing loss to Kentucky with a victory over Rider (3-2).

No. 12 Villanova 77, No. 14 VCU 53: At the Legends Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y., JayVaughn Pinkston scored 15 points and Darrun Hilliard had 14 to lead Villanova (4-0) past Virginia Commonwealth in the semifinal. Villanova plays No. 19 Michigan in the final Tuesday.

No. 13 Iowa State 84, Alabama 74: At the CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo., Georges Niang scored 28 points, reserve Dustin Hogue had 17 and Iowa State beat Alabama to reach the championship game.
