Cheryl Williams will become the first University of Detroit women's basketball player to have her number retired Saturday when U-D hosts Western Michigan at noon at Calihan Hall.
Williams, a Detroit Chadsey product who played from 1979-82, is the all-time leader in rebounding, blocks and steals and is second in scoring.
Williams, who wore No. 44, was an All-American during her senior season and U-D was 95-26 while she was there. She was inducted into the Titans Hall of Fame in 2005.
