Detroit's Quick Lane Bowl will be Dec. 28

Rutgers won the first Quick Lane Bowl 41-20 over North Carolina.

The Quick Lane Bowl will be played on Monday, Dec. 28 at 5 p.m., it was announced Thursday. It will be televised by ESPN2.

The 2014 game, at Ford Field, was on Dec. 26. Rutgers defeated North Carolina, 40-21.

"We couldn't have been happier with the inaugural Quick Lane Bowl and this year's schedule change is indicative of its success," said Lions president Tom Lewand. "This will allow us a better opportunity to accommodate our guests with expanded travel time around the holidays."

The Quick Lane Bowl matches up teams from the Big Ten and ACC.

Lions rookie fullback Michael Burton played for Rutgers in last year's game.
