Saturday's WCWS roundup: LSU ousts Alabama

Oklahoma City — Bailey Landry had two hits and two RBIs to help LSU beat Alabama 5-3 on Saturday night in a Women's College World Series elimination game.

Landry's two-run single in the second inning gave the Tigers a 5-0 lead.

LSU (52-13) faces Michigan on Sunday for the right to play in the championship series. Michigan will need one win, while LSU will need two.

Allie Walljasper got the win for LSU. She pitched six innings and gave up three hits and three runs. Carley Hoover threw an inning of hitless relief for the save. She threw two wild pitches in the seventh, but got Marisa Runyon to ground out to end the threat with a runner on.

Runyon had two hits and knocked in a run for Alabama (48-15).

Auburn 11, UCLA 10: Emily Carosone scored on Morgan Estell's bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Auburn a victory in an elimination game .

Branndi Melero had three hits and four RBIs, and Carlee Wallace also drove in four runs for the Tigers. The 21 combined runs were the second-most in World Series history, and the game lasted four hours.

Auburn (56-10) will play Florida on Sunday for the right to play in the championship series. Auburn must win twice, while defending national champion Florida will need just one victory.

UCLA's Ally Carda threw 205 pitches and walked 12 batters. She had three hits and walked twice for the Bruins (51-13).

Auburn 4, Tennessee 2: Carlee Wallace and Haley Fagan each had two hits to help Auburn to its first win in the Women's College World Series.

Tennessee (47-17), which also lost to Auburn in the SEC Championship Game, was eliminated.

Tennessee loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning, but failed to score. The Lady Vols left nine runners on base in the game.

Wallace's two-run double highlighted a four-run third inning for Auburn.

The tying run came to the plate for Tennessee with one out in the seventh inning, but Auburn reliever Rachael Walters struck out the final two batters for the save. She struck out five in 2 1-3 innings of hitless relief.

Alabama 2, Oregon 1: Alexis Osorio threw a complete game and struck out nine to help Alabama defeat Oregon in an elimination game.

Osorio, a freshman, gave up three hits. She struck out all three batters in the sixth inning and struck out the final two in the seventh to clinch the win. Osorio (22-9) recovered from a tough outing in a 5-0 loss to Michigan on Thursday.

Chandler Dare's single in the second inning scored two for Alabama's only runs. The Crimson Tide (48-14) will play LSU in an elimination game Saturday night.

Ducks pitcher Cheridan Hawkins, who entered the tournament with a 30-3 record, lost for the second straight game. Janie Takeda's RBI single in the third inning produced the only run for Oregon (51-8).
