Valentine, LeVert, Felder on Wooden midseason list
Injuries haven’t kept Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine and Michigan’s Caris LeVert off the John R. Wooden Award watch list.
They’re joined by Oakland junior point guard Kay Felder, who made the list after he wasn’t included in the preseason top 50.
The seniors on on the midseason top 25 for the honor, awarded to college basketball’s top player, though they’ve been dinged up by injuries.
The 6-foot-5 Valentine missed four games following arthroscopic knee surgery before returning last Sunday against Penn State, but still leads the No. 4 Spartans in scoring (17.8 per game), rebounds (7.9), and assists (6.8).
LeVert has missed the last three games with a lower-leg injury. Like Valentine, he’s been a do-everything player for the Wolverines, averaging a team-best 17.6 points and 5.2 assists per game, as well as 5.4 rebounds.
Felder is the nation’s leader in assists (8.7), while ranking third in scoring (25.8) for the Golden Grizzlies.
The winner will be announced during the weekend of April 7-9.
