The University of Detroit and new coach Bacari Alexander have added transfer point guard Dre Black from Schoolcraft Community College and Westland John Glenn.
Black (6-2, 175) was named NJCAA Division II first team All-American last season while leading Schoolcraft to a 23-12 record. He averaged 10.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.7 steals while starting all 35 of Schoolcraft’s games. He shot 43.4 percent from the field, 34.5 percent on 3-pointers and 82.1 percent on free throws.
"Dre is a true point guard who has led his team to two straight national tournament appearances at Schoolcraft," said Alexander. "One of our positions that needed to be addressed immediately was our point guard play and Dre allows us to solidify that approach."
Black will have two years of college eligibility at Detroit.
