Louisville, Ky. — Corey Ray had three of Louisville’s 11 hits, Blake Tiberi hit a two-run homer and Kyle Funkhouser allowed four hits over eight innings as the top-seeded Cardinals beat No. 4 seed Western Michigan, 6-1, Friday night in the Louisville Regional.

Ray, Brendan McKay, Tiberi and Drew Ellis each had multiple hits as the Cardinals (48-12), seeded No. 2 nationally, improved to 34-1 at home. Funkhouser (9-3) struck out six and walked just three to win his sixth straight start.

Louisville will face second-seeded Ohio State Saturday. Western (22-33) will try to avoid elimination from its first NCAA regional since 1989 against Wright State.

Louisville scored two runs each in the third and fourth innings, with Ellis’ two-run double providing the 4-0 lead. Western scored once in the sixth.
