MSU’s Price, WMU’s Terrell are Wuerffel Trophy candidates

Michigan State senior tight end Josiah Price and Western Michigan senior quarterback Zach Terrell are on the preseason watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy.

The trophy is presented to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Price, from Greentown, Indiana, is a hospitality business major at MSU. He earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award for maintaining a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher during the 2015-16 academic year.

Price has 66 catches for 851 yards and 16 TD in 39 games at MSU.

Terrell, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, ranked seventh in the FBS last season in quarterback efficiency and 10th in accuracy, completing 67.0 percent of his passes (262-of-391). He threw for a career-high 3,526 yards and 29 TD.

Terrell is completing his MBA after earning his undergraduate degree in December. He is involved in several community service organizations, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tree of Life Bronco Buddies and the Special Olympics.

Zach Terrell
