State roundup: Wayne State ground game tramples Findlay
Four Wayne State players rushed for four touchdowns and Donovan Zezula threw for a fifth as Wayne State beat Findlay, 37-21, at Findlay, Ohio, on Saturday.
The Warriors (5-1, 5-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) took a 14-0 lead on a 2-yard run by Romello Brown on the last play of the first quarter, and a 6-yard run by Demetrius Stinson (16 carries, 125 yards) early in the second.
Rhys Cervais brought Findlay (2-4, 2-4) back even with a pair of touchdown passes to Jason Moore, but a 10-yard pass from Zezula to Aaron Weston and a 66-yard run by Deiontae Nicholas (six carries, 106 yards) gave Wayne State a 27-14 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Zezula finished with 16 completions on 24 passes for 182 yards.
Cervais completed 26 of 44 for 330 yards and three touchdowns for Findlay.
(At) Ashland 45, Northwood 7: Ashland (5-1, 4-1) took a 38-0 lead by early in the fourth quarter. Travis Tarnowski threw five touchdown passes, four of them to Adam Shaheen (32, 32, 5 and 7 yards). Tarnowski finished 26 for 36 for 332 yards, and Shaheen caught seven passes for 109 yards. Norrthwood is 1-5, 1-5.
(At) Grand Valley State 35, Ferris State 23: Marty Carter carried 28 times for 127 yards and a touchdown, and threw a halfback pass for a touchdown to Urston Smith for Grand Valley (6-0, 6-0). Reggie Bell completed 19 of 39 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns for Ferris State (4-2, 4-2).
(At) Saginaw Valley State 41, Northern Michigan 13: Jermaih Johnson carried 11 times for 169 yards and two touchdowns for Saginaw Valley (4-2). Aaron Harris rushed for 115 yards for Northern (3-3, 3-2).

(At) Adrian 28, Lakeland 21: Kyle Nutter’s 40-yard run with 3:30 left was the winner for Adrian. It was Nutter’s second TD carry of the game. Gage Smith’s 15-yard pass to Darius Philon and Foster Walker’s 2-yard run gave Adrian its other scores. Both teams are 3-2.
(At) Trine 35, Albion 16: Evan Wyse gained 122 yards on 18 attempts and scored one TD for Trine (4-1, 1-0). Anthony Waite returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown and Collin Poore ran 50 yards for a touchdown for Albion (0-5, 0-2).
Hope 35, (at) Alma 19: Brandan Campbell carried 29 times for 231 yards and five touchdowns as Hope (2-3, 1-1) rained on Alma’s Homecoming. Dylan Zaborowski ran for two touchdowns for Alma (3-2, 1-1).
(At) Olivet 35, Kalamazoo 6: Braden Black completed 25 of 35 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Olivet (4-1, 2-0). Alex White completed 17 of 44 passes for 218 yards for Kalamazoo (2-3, 0-2).
