State roundup: Ferris State sails past Lake Erie
Reggie Bell completed 16 of 21 passes for 223, including a touchdown, and ran in for two scores of 3 and 10 yards in leading Ferris State to a 42-10 victory over visiting Lake Erie Saturday in GLIAC action.
Ferris State (6-2 overall, 6-2 GLIAC), ranked No. 25 in this week’s AFCA Division II poll, hosts No. 22 Wayne State (7-1 overall, 7-1 GLIAC), which defeated Saginaw Valley State, 42-14, on Saturday.
Against Lake Erie (0-8 overall, 0-8 GLIAC), Jamel Lockett opened the scoring for Ferris on 1-yard run. Devonte McGregor scored on a 28-yard fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.
John Banyasz’s 8-yard TD run with 2:03 left accounted for Lake Erie’s lone TD.
Ohio Dominican 38, (at) Northern Michigan 28: Grant Russell passed for 384 yards and four touchdowns as Dominican (5-3 overall, 5-3 GLIAC) piled up 539 yards in total offense. Jake Mayon had TD runs of 5, 3 and 1 yards for Northern (3-5).
(At) Northwood 17, Michigan Tech 3: Corey Burdgick scored on a 77-yard run for Northwood (2-6 overall, 2-6 GLIAC. Josh King had a 28-yard field goal for Tech (2-5 overall, 2-5 GLIAC).
Grand Valley State 35, (at) Hillsdale 17: Marty Carter had TD runs of 54, 14 and 10 yards to lead Grand Valley (8-0, 7-0 GLIAC), which is ranked No. 2 in the AFCA Division II poll. Joe Reverman ran for 125 yards, including a TD, for Hillsdale (3-4 overall, 2-4 GLIAC).
(At) Olivet 54, Benedictine (Ill.) 48, OT: Andre Houston’s 9-yard TD catch from Braden Black in overtime won it for Olivet (6-1). Braden was 29-of-38 for 329, including three TDs. He also ran 9 yards for a score. Olivet’s Jerome Washington had TD runs of 5, 4 and 31 yards. Ryan Sample passed for 475 yards and five TDs for Benedictine (4-3).
(At) Hope 31, Trine 7: Brandan Campbell ran for 132 yards, including TD runs of 36 and 10 yards, as Hope (4-3) reeled off 31 unanswered points after Trine (5-2) scored on its first possession. Hope's Mike Miklusicak rushed for 141 yards and scored on 21 yard run.
(At) Alma 37, Albion 14: Dylan Zaborowski passed for two touchdowns and ran in for two scores while racking up 122 yards in rushing to lead Alma (5-2). Kyle Winchell had a 15-yard TD catch for Albion (0-7).
(At) Adrian 31, Kalamazoo 13: Hunter Hamm passed for 343 yards and two touchdowns while Kyle Nutter had scoring runs of 19 and 10 yards for Adrian ((4-3, 2-1 MIAA). Viet Nguyen had field goals of 26 and 39 yards while A.J. Convertino scored on a 15-yard pass from Alex White for Kalamazoo (2-5, 0-4).
