Grand Valley, Ferris State advance to regional matchup
Grand Valley State rolled up 598 yards of total offense Saturday in a 55-32 victory over Texas A&M Commerce in a second-round Division II football game in Allendale, Mich.
Bart Williams (17-of-26) threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns, Marty Conner ran 33 times for 217 yards and a touchdown and Terrell Dorsey added 71 yards and two touchdowns for the No. 1-seeded Lakers (11-0), who jumped to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter and were never slowed.
Brandon Bean caught six passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns for Grand Valley, which advanced to host second-seeded Ferris State in a regional final next Saturday.
Luis Perez was 25-of-50 for 319 yards and three touchdowns for Texas A&M Commerce (10-1).
(At) Ferris State 38, Colorado School of Mines 17: Trevor Bermingham completed 19 of 30 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three more scores for Ferris State (11-2).
Bermingham ran for 44 of the Bulldogs’ 117 yards on the ground and Jahaan Brown gathered 42 yards on 11 carries.
Shakur Sanders caught eight passes for 214 yards and a touchdown for Ferris State, which took a 24-10 lead into halftime.
Justin Dvorak was 32-of-53 for 363 yards and two touchdowns for Colorado Mines (10-3) but also threw two interceptions.
