Detroit News predictions: Western Michigan vs. Ohio

The Detroit News, DetroitNews

Tony Paul, David Goricki, Bob Wojnowski and John Niyo of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Friday’s Mid-American Conference championship game:

Tony Paul: Many are expecting this to be a blowout, though Ohio tends to keep things close with a pretty good defense, particularly against the rush. Ohio just doesn’t have the experience or weapons on offense to pull the upset. Western Michigan 38-10

David Goricki: Zach Terrell and Corey Davis will put on a show in the MAC championship game, and the Broncos defense also will come up big. Western Michigan 38-14

Bob Wojnowski: The Broncos are playing for more than the MAC championship — they’re playing for 13-0, a Cotton Bowl berth and perhaps the greatest season of any MAC team. P.J. Fleck will get major job offers shortly, but in the meantime, he has a few more points to make with his team. Lots more points, actually. Western Michigan has scored at least 34 in 11 straight games, and QB Zach Terrell quietly is having an incredible year (30 TDs, one INT). The Broncos will keep on bucking. Western Michigan 41-20

John Niyo: Credit P.J. Fleck for keeping the distractions to a minimum. And credit the Broncos for playing like a machine, free-wheeling and remarkably error-free. Tonight should be more of the same. Western Michigan 35-23
