Familiar foes Grand Valley, Ferris renew rivalry in postseason

The Detroit News

Grand Valley State has played Ferris State 46 times in history, tied for most with Saginaw Valley State.

Grand Valley State's Marty Carter has rushed for 1,807 yards and 19 touchdowns this season.

But Saturday at Lubbers Stadium, Grand Valley State is looking to run its postseason record against No. 15 Ferris State (11-2) to 2-0 as the teams meet in the Division II quarterfinals. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

Last season, the teams split their matchups, with Ferris State winning during the regular season before Grand Valley won in the playoffs.

This year, No. 2 Grand Valley State (12-0) is going for the sweep after winning Sept. 8.
