Thursday's basketball: Spartans women improve to 9-2

Kingston, R.I. -- Tori Jankowski had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists, leading Michigan State to an 85-48 win at Rhode Island on Thursday night.

The Spartans jumped out to a 24-11 lead and didn’t look back, registering a season-high in points.

Taryn McCutcheon scored 15 and Branndais Agee and Taya Reimer added 11 apiece for Michigan State (9-2). Charise Wilson had 14 points to lead Rhode Island (4-6).

Tiffin 79, Wayne State 76 (OT): Kristen Massey had 14 points for Tiffin (3-4, 1-2 GLIAC). Nastassja Chambers scored 22 and Shannon Wilson 19 for Wayne State (4-4, 2-1).

State men

Wayne State 70, Tiffin 68: Jeff Key had 18 points and seven rebounds, while George Spencer scored 15 for Wayne State (6-1, 3-0 GLIAC), which won its sixth consecutive game. Alex Brown had 18 for Tiffin (3-6, 0-3).

Big Ten 

(At) Iowa 78, No. 25 Iowa State 64: Peter Jok scored 23 points and Iowa stopped a three-game skid against its instate rival. Isaiah Moss had 14 points to help the Hawkeyes (5-5), who shot 59 percent in the first half to lead by as much as 46-29, and beat a Power Five opponent for this first time this season. Matt Thomas scored 14 to lead the Cyclones, who were 8-of-30 from 3-point range.
