Wayne State athletics will pay tribute to fallen police offer Collin Rose.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will wear Rose’s badge number, 128, on their uniforms through the remainder of the season, the university announced Thursday.

The badge number will be in white lettering, inside a blue circle that has a black border. The patch will be worn on the left chest.

Rose, 29, was a five-year member of the Wayne State Police Department, and was a member of the canine team. He was the first officer in the department’s history to die in the line of duty.

He was shot in the head and died the following day, Nov. 23.

Police continue to search for suspects in the shooting. An initial suspect was released from custody Wednesday.
