Quick Lane Bowl players hitting road armed with gifts

Maryland and Boston College players who took part in Monday's Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field won't leave empty handed.

Parting gifts include a $200 Best Buy gift card; JBL headphones; life-sized Fathead decal for each participant in his likeness; hoodie; winter hat; Rock ’Em Apparel socks; backpack; and a vintage football, according to a Sports Business Daily report.

Not all bowl swag is the same, though.

For instance, Michigan and Florida State players taking part in the Orange Bowl on Friday receive a Tourneau watch and a Schutt mini-helmet. They also select from a gift suite, which is a private event where recipients pick an item or number of items not exceeding the NCAA limit of $550 a person.

The Cotton Bowl, which features Western Michigan vs. Wisconsin on Jan. 2, did not disclose gifts, but overall watches are popular bowl giveaway items — especially those made by Fossil — as are caps, backpacks and headphones.
