Michigan Tech falls to Denver in NCAA hockey tournament

Colin Staub scored twice as Denver opened a four-goal lead in the first period and went on to defeat Michigan Tech, 5-2, Saturday in Midwest Region NCAA Tournament game in Cincinnati.

Emil Romig, Tyson McClellan and Will Butcher also had goals for Denver (30-7-4), which advances to the Midwest Region final against Penn State.  Gavin Gould and Jake Lucchini scored second-period goals for Tech (25-15-7).

Tanner Jaillet made 18 saves for Denver; Tech's Angus Redmond had 29 saves.
