UM’s Mason Cole, Mike McCray make Senior Bowl roster
Mason Cole and Mike McCray, whose football careers at Michigan are over, will be participating in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 27, in Mobile, Ala.
A noticeable absence from the roster is former Wolverine defensive tackle Maurice Hurst. He was reported as a scratch on Thursday by Dane Brugler, a draft analyst for NFLDraftScout.com.
Cole started 51 games for Michigan, including three seasons at left tackle. He played the 2016 season at center and is expected to play guard or center in the NFL. McCray is a linebacker, who was a co-captain this past season along with Cole. They will play for the North squad.
Hurst made ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper’s mock draft released Thursday as a first-round selection, going No. 22 to the Bills. Pro Football Focus, who rated Hurst the top player at any position, has him going No. 3 overall in its mock draft.
Western Michigan will be represented by Darius Phillips, a defensive back and return specialist, and offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor. Central Michigan tight end Tyler Conklin also is on the Senior Bowl North roster.
