Horizon League hoops poll: Oakland fourth, Detroit Mercy dead last

The preseason prospects for Oakland and Detroit Mercy men's basketball aren't overly promising, at least not according to voters in the preseason poll. Oakland is picked to finish fourth and Detroit Mercy 10th and last in the poll released by the league Wednesday.
Wright State is picked to win the league, receiving 25 of 40 first-place votes.

Oakland finished fourth in the league last season, but lost four key seniors in Kendrick Nunn, Martez Walker, Nick Daniels and Jalen Hayes, as well as forward Isaiah Brock, who transferred to Grand Valley State.
Detroit Mercy finished last in 2017-18, fired coach Bacari Alexander and hired Mike Davis, who added 13 new players to the roster amid a wave of departures.
No Oakland or Detroit Mercy players are on the preseason all-league teams, either first team or second team.
Voters included head coaches and media members.
