For the second straight season, Michigan State will face the No. 1 team in the nation in the Champions Classic.

That was confirmed Monday when the Associated Press preseason poll was released and the Kansas Jayhawks were No. 1. The Spartans check in at No. 10 while Michigan is No. 19. Purdue is the only other ranked Big Ten team, checking in at No. 24.

Joshua Langford (1) and Michigan State are ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25.

Last season in the Champions Classic, No. 2 Michigan State took on No. 1 Duke — an 88-81 victory for the Blue Devils. It was the second time the Spartans played in a 1 vs. 2 matchup in the event, beating No. 1 Kentucky in 2013.

In addition to its Big Ten opponents, Michigan State faces No. 21 UCLA in the Las Vegas Invitational and could meet No. 8 North Carolina in the same event. Other non-conference opponents that received votes in the poll include Florida, Louisville and potentially Texas.

Michigan comes in at No. 19 after reaching the national championship game last season. The Wolverines get a rematch with No. 9 Villanova on Nov. 14. They also face No. 8 North Carolina on Nov. 28 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge while Providence, a team they could face in the Hall of Fame Tip-off, is receiving votes.

Other Big Ten teams that received votes include Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and Wisconsin.
