Ypsilanti — Tyler Wiegers threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Blake Banham midway through the fourth quarter and Eastern Michigan's defense forced a fumble that led to a clinching field goal three plays later against Central Michigan in a 17-7 win on Saturday.

Wiegers directed a nine-play, 70-yard drive, completing all six passes on the drive for 66 yards. On the ensuing second down, Jeremiah Harris and Ty Eddington sacked Tony Poljan for a loss of 10 yards. On third-and-16, Maxx Crosby sacked Poljan and forced a fumble that Harris returned seven yards to the 7.

Chad Ryland then booted a 26-yard field goal and Vincent Calhoun picked off Austin Hergott with 2:08 to go to wrap it up.

Wiegers was 17 of 25 for 150 yards with a pick and Banham had seven catches for 99 yards. Shaq Vann, who put the Eagles (5-5, 3-3 Mid-American Conference) up 7-0 with a 26-yard run on their first possession, had 117 yards on 13 carries.

Central Michigan (1-9, 0-6), which lost its sixth straight, was held to 138 yards with four turnovers. The touchdown was a 68-yard fumble return by Mike Danna.


(At) No. 2 Ferris State 41, Davenport 10: Jayru Campbell threw for 142 yards, ran for 145 and had four total touchdowns for Ferris State (9-0, 7-0), which led 34-3 at halftime. Campell scored on runs of 46 and 4 yards and threw touchdown passes of 43 and 14 yards to Sy Barnett and Keyondre Craig, respectively. Keion Powers had a 68-yard touchdown reception from Blake Daniels for Davenport (6-3, 3-3).

Northern Michigan 34, (at) Wayne State 24: Jake Mayon rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries and Latrell Giles had a pair of 1-yard rushing scores, including the winner with 1:28 left, for Northern Michigan (3-7, 1-6). Anthony Ladd sealed the win with a 97-yard interception return with 10 seconds remaining. James Hill had 131 yards rushing and a touchdown on 23 attempts and Malcolm Williams scored on a 50-yard interception return for Wayne State (2-8, 1-6).

Saginaw Valley 31, (at) Northwood 10: Saginaw Valley blocked two punts that led to a a pair of touchdowns — one on a 12-yard scoop and score by Josh Schelke and the other recovered in the end zone by Bryce Anderson. Nate McCrary (four yards) and Ryan Conklin (one yard) each added a rushing touchdown for the Cardinals (7-3, 4-3), who scored the game's final 24 points. Abdul Levy scored on a 32-yard run and David Riser had a 25-yard field goal for Northwood (2-7, 2-5).

(At) No. 9 Grand Valley 20, Ashland 17: J.J. McGrath connected on a field goal from 23 yards with 15 seconds left  as Grand Valley held off a late rally by Ashland, which tied the contest 17-all on Satchel Denton's 39-yard field goal with 5:02. Chawntez Moss also had a 73-yard TD run for Grand Valley (9-1, 6-1). Billy Bahl passed for 285 yards, including two touchdowns for Ashland (5-4, 5-2, which had 410 yards in total offense.


(At) Albion 63, Finlandia 10: Zach Serzo rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries and Kyle Thomas scored a 9-yard run and 20-yard reception for Albion (6-3, 3-3), which blew the game open with 35 unanswered points. Markell McCoy (one yard), Ryan Roberts (11 yards) and Isaiah Gibson (47 yards) each added a rushing touchdown. De'Llnotae Johnson scored on a 7-yard run for Finlandia (0-9, 0-6).

(At) Hope 33, Kalamazoo 7: Mason Opple had 203 yards of total offense and three total touchdowns (one passing, two rushing) and Mike Miklusicak ran for 117 yards and two scores for Hope (7-2, 5-1). Zach VanFaussien threw a 17-yard touchdown to Ethan Kubik for Kalamazoo (7-2, 4-2), which was outgained 372-137.

(At) Olivet 37, Alma 34: Lane Porter threw for 222 yards and a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, including a 39-yarder to Jacob Jodway for the go-ahead score with 1:33 left, for Olivet (6-3, 4-2). Matthew Ellis led the rushing attack with 136 yards and a score on 18 carries, and Jamaul Martin ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 17 attempts. Mason Ippel threw for 223 yards, three touchdowns and an interception and Chase Hinkle had eight catches for 108 yards and a score for Alma (1-8, 0-6).

(At) Trine 42, Adrian 27: Jack Wurzer threw for 196 yards, four touchdowns and an interception, Emmanuel Stewart rushed for 138 yards on 26 carries, and Clarence Madison had touchdown receptions of 32, 15 and 15 yards for Adrian (4-5, 2-4), which couldn't take advantage of a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
