The Central Michigan women's basketball team, coming off a magical run to the Sweet 16, is just outside the latest Associated Press top-25 poll, released Monday.

CMU opened the season with a resounding 104-61 victory over Oakland, and continues play Monday night in a home game with South Dakota State.

CMU received 26 points, which puts it at 27th in the rankings.

Michigan, with three points, is the only other state school to receive votes.

Defending national champion Notre Dame with 30 of the 31 first-place votes, remained solidly atop the rankings. Following are Connecticut, Oregon, Baylor and Louisville.
