Saturday's state men: White lifts Western Michigan over Central Michigan, 67-65

Mount Pleasant — B. Artis White had 16 points and Greg Lee sank a baseline jumper with 1.7 seconds left as Western Michigan edged past Central Michigan 67-65 on Saturday.

Lee had 16 points and eight rebounds for Western Michigan (4-11, 3-7 Mid-American Conference). Josiah Freeman added 11 points.

B. Artis White had 16 points in Western Michigan's 67-65 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday in Mount Pleasant.

Travon Broadway Jr. scored a career-high 29 points for the Chippewas (6-12, 2-9), whose losing streak stretched to five games. Caleb Huffman added 11 points. Malik Muhammad had 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Broncos improve to 2-0 against the Chippewas for the season. Western Michigan defeated Central Michigan 76-61 on Dec. 18.

►Cleveland State 80, (at) Oakland 78: D’Moi Hodge had 20 points, and Tre Gomillion had 13 points and seven rebounds for Cleveland State (14-5, 14-2 Horizon League), which earned its fourth consecutive victory. Deante Johnson added 12 points. Torrey Patton had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Daniel Oladapo had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Golden Grizzlies (8-15, 8-8). Zion Young added 18 points. Micah Parrish had 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Vikings improve to 2-0 against the Golden Grizzlies for the season. Cleveland State defeated Oakland 80-72 on Friday.

(At) Detroit Mercy 83, Purdue Fort Wayne 56: Antoine Davis had 26 points and Matt Johnson 24, and Bul Kuol and Marquell Fraser each scored 10 points for Detroit Mercy (8-8, 7-5 Horizon League), which earned its fifth straight win.

Deonte Billups and Jarred Godfrey scored 13 points apiece for the Mastodons (6-11, 5-11), who have lost six in a row. Jalon Pipkins had 12 points.

The Titans also defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 82-72 on Friday.

(At) Wayne State 92, Purdue Northwest 89: Five Warriors scored in double figures, led by Darian Owens-White with 27, and Brailen Neely and Antonio Marshall, each with 15. Wayne State is 6-3, Northwest 5-6.
