Joey Bosa among four Buckeyes suspended for opener
Chicago – Ohio State will be without four players, including All-American defensive end Joey Bosa, when the defending national champions open their season at Virginia Tech.
Bosa, hybrid backs Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson and receiver Corey Smith will miss the game for unspecified violations of athletic department policy, Ohio State announced Thursday before the start of the Big Ten's annual media days here.
Last season, Bosa had 13.5 sacks and was named the Big Ten's defensive player of the year and defensive lineman of the year.
"Arguably one of the best defensive players in the United States of America won't play in that game," OSU coach Urban Meyer said Thursday afternoon during his media session.
Meyer would not offer specifics on why the players were suspended.
"Internally, a violation of team policies," Meyer said. "That's as far as I'll go."
