Wisconsin redshirt freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook, who faces No. 4 Michigan this week, has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Hornibrook, in his first career start, threw for 195 yards and one TD in the Badgers’ 30-6 win over Michigan State last week. On third downs, he completed 9-of-13 passes for 136 yards.
Hornibrook and the Badgers meet Michigan in Ann Arbor on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Other Big Ten award winners:
Offense: Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. – He accounted for 378 yards of total offense in the Cornhuskers’ 24-13 win over Northwestern. He had a career-high 132 rushing yards and 246 passing yards.
Defense: Wisconsin LB T.J. Watt – Had six tackles, including 3.5 for loss, in the Badgers’ win over the Spartans. He also had 2.5 sacks, giving him 4.5 sacks over the last three games.
Special teams: Iowa P Ron Coluzzi – Had seven punts for an average of 42.0 yards, including a season-best 55-yarder, in Iowa’s 14-7 win over Rutgers. Four of his seven punts were downed inside the 20.
