Harbaugh nation's highest paid; Dantonio 5th in Big Ten

Alabama coach Nick Saban may have more national titles, but he trails Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for highest salary.

Harbaugh's total compensation of $9,004,000 trumps Saban's $6,939,395, according to USA Today's annual report on college coaching pay.

Harbaugh’s compensation includes two $2 million interest-free loans that he is due to receive this year. They are being provided by the university via life insurance premium payments.

Third in the nation is Ohio State's Urban Meyer, who earns $6,094,800.

Michigan State's Mark Dantonio is fifth in the Big Ten, earning $4,300,000 for a national ranking of 14th place.
