Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight, and Michigan State running back LJ Scott and offensive lineman Brian Allen are among the top 25 players returning to Big Ten teams in 2017, according to ESPN.

Speight is ranked No. 12 on the list, Scott is No. 19 and Allen is No. 20.

ESPN’s Austin Ward on Speight: “After winning the starting QB job in 2016, Speight never looked back and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. He threw for 2,538 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions and should be even better as a senior.”

Scott led the Spartans with 994 yards rushing last season on a 5.4-yard average. “Expect him to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark as a junior on his way to a big season,” Ward predicts.

The top three players on the list are Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley and Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett. The No. 8 player is Ohio State running back Mike Weber.
