UM's Jumpman sneaker laces to pay tribute to MSU super fan
Some things are bigger than a heated rivalry.
Michigan basketball has announced that for its game against Michigan State on Sunday, all players' Jordan-brand sneakers will feature "Laces for Lacey."
That's a tribute to special Michigan State fan Lacey Holsworth, who died in 2014 at the age of 8 following a battle with cancer.
For the Michigan-Michigan State game, at 1 p.m. at Breslin Center (CBS), Michigan coach John Beilein and his staff will wear suits with sneakers to pay tribute to Holsworth.
Holsworth's Spartan fandom captured the attention and the heart of the nation in 2013-14, especially her special friendship with then-Michigan State star Adreian Payne.
For Thursday's home game against Indiana (9, ESPN), Michigan players will wear pink sneakers as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer week.
