Purdue has four Big Ten winners after big upset

Purdue, which scored a surprising victory over then-No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday night, was a big winner again on Monday when the Big Ten award winners were announced.

Quarterback David Blough was named offensive player of the week, linebacker Markus Bailey earned the defensive honor, punter Joe Schopper was the special teams winner, and receiver Rondale Moore was named co-freshman of the week.

Moore shared the award with Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez.

Blough threw for 378 yards and three TD, becoming the fifth player in Purdue history to throw for 300-plus yards in three consecutive games.

Bailey had a game-high 15 tackles and also returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown. Schopper averaged 43.3 yards on six punts and also ran for a first down on a fake punt, setting up Purdue’s second touchdown. Moore had 252 yards of all-purpose yards, including 12 receptions for 170 yards.

Purdue (4-3 overall, 3-1 Big Ten) visits Michigan State (4-3, 2-2) on Saturday at noon.
