Michigan State's Joe Bachie earns Big Ten Defensive Player of Week honor
Joe Bachie completed a hat trick on Monday.
Bachie, Michigan State's junior linebacker, was named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 24-3 victory over Maryland. It's his third career weekly defensive honor from the conference.
A key cog in a defense that limited the Terrapins to 100 total yards, Bachie racked up seven tackles (two for loss) and three forced fumbles. He also recovered a fumble and broke up two passes.
He's the second Michigan State player in as many weeks to earn Big Ten weekly honors, following quarterback Rocky Lombardi, who shared freshman honors following a 23-13 victory over Purdue.
