MSU's Waynes among 15 semifinalists for Thorpe Award
Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes is one of 15 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back.
Waynes, a junior from Kenosha, Wisconsin, had five tackles and a pass breakup in MSU's 35-11 win over Michigan on Saturday.
Waynes has 28 tackles on the season, two interceptions, five pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Three Thorpe finalists will be announced on Nov. 24 and the winner will be named on Dec. 11.
