Detroit News predictions: MSU vs. Maryland

Matt Charboneau: This was going to be a potential letdown game for Michigan State coming off two emotional games against Michigan and Ohio State regardless of last week's outcome. The test for the Spartans will be to get its defense off the mat and keep the offense humming along. Maryland is riding high after a victory over Penn State two weeks ago, but without WR Stefon Diggs, it likely won't have enough. Michigan State 44-24

Angelique S. Chengelis: Michigan State, coming off the disappointing home loss to Ohio State, will have a strong rebound at Maryland, which will be without top WR Stefon Diggs (654 yards, five TDs). Jeremy Langford will lead Michigan State on the ground and help lead the Spartans. Michigan State 31-10

Bob Wojnowski: This will be a tough game emotionally for the Spartans and a huge game emotionally for the Terrapins, playing at home at night. Now that Michigan State's defensive vulnerabilities are apparent, you figure Maryland will try to throw deep. Problem is, WR Stefon Diggs is suspended and QB C.J. Brown is erratic. "Letdown Alert" for the Spartans, but they'll bounce back. Michigan State 37-20

John Niyo: The Terps are promising a Special-Ops blackout, or something like that, so it won't be easy going into enemy territory. But the Spartans don't let losses linger the way they once did. Michigan State 31-21
