MSU's Izzo has highest bid in 'Beat Cancer' fundraiser
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is winning again.
He leads a group of 10 coaches participating in an online auction fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The "Beat Cancer" fundraiser, organized by Oakland coach Greg Kampe, includes Kampe, Izzo, John Beilein (Michigan), Steve Alford (UCLA), Rick Barnes (Tennessee), John Calipari (Kentucky), Bob Huggins (West Virginia), Sean Miller (Arizona), Josh Pastner (Memphis) and Roy Williams (North Carolina).
The highest bidder for each coach wins dinner and a round of golf with that coach, plus a one-night stay at the MotorCity Casino Hotel. The round of golf will be at Oakland Hills Country Club, and the winning bidder will be permitted to invite two guests for golf.
As of Monday afternoon, Izzo had the highest bid at $17,000, Alford, Huggins and Williams were tied for second at $15,000, and Beilen was next at $14,000.
The auction began on April 13 and will end Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.
