MSU's Cook, Calhoun on Big Ten 'Players to Watch' list
Chicago – Michigan State might not be the favorite to win the Big Ten East, but it did land two players on the conference's preseason "Players to Watch" list.
Quarterback Connor Cook and defensive end Shilique Calhoun were among the five players from the East Division listed as players to watch, as selected by a media panel. They were joined by running back Ezekiel Elliott and defensive end Joey Bosa of Ohio State and defensive tackle Anthony Zettel of Penn State and West Branch, Michigan.
Nebraska and Wisconsin had two players each in the West division. Defensive tackle Maliek Collins and wide receiver De'Mornay Pierson-El of Nebraska were on the list while safety Michael Caputo and running back Corey Clement were also named. Northwestern running back Justin Jackson and Iowa defensive end Drew Ott round out the players to watch.
There were six players from the West Division due to a voting tie.
