East Lansing – When the Big Ten Network made its annual stop at Michigan State on Tuesday, reporter Tom Dienhart wrote that offensive lineman Kodi Kieler and defensive lineman Lawrence Thomas were out with injuries.

It's not something coach Mark Dantonio often talks about – he typically will only discuss season-ending injuries like the one suffered by linebacker Ed Davis – and he wasn't offering up much information Thursday.

It did seem, however, that whatever ailed Kieler and Thomas was minor.

"We're not talking about injuries, but Kodi will be fine," Dantonio said. "I guess we are talking about them, but we're not talking about them."

Asked about Thomas, Dantonio made it clear when he would not address any injury.

"I would talk about it if they were out for the game on the Friday before (a Saturday) game," he said. "They are not out for the games."

One injury he did talk about was the hernia surgery from which redshirt freshman defensive lineman Enoch Smith Jr. is recovering.

"He'll be active here within the next couple days," Dantonio said. "He'll be moving to pads here in a day."

Michigan State is close to completing its second full week of preseason camp as it prepares for the season-opener on Friday Sept. 4 at Western Michigan.
