Oops: MSU surrendered Paul Bunyan before final play
Ann Arbor — Even Paul Bunyan thought he was changing ZIP codes.
Michigan State equipment staff members — like pretty much everybody watching on ESPN or in person — were so sure of a loss to Michigan that they dropped off the Paul Bunyan Trophy in Michigan’s locker room at Michigan Stadium, according to Sam Webb, who covers college football recruiting and the Wolverines for The Michigan Insider.
Webb tweeted out a photo of the Paul Bunyan Trophy in front of a block “M” following Michigan State’s unbelievable, 27-23 victory over Michigan.
The Paul Bunyan Trophy has been presented to the winner of the annual rivalry game every year since 1953.
And for the seventh time in eight years, Paul Bunyan is staying put in East Lansing.
