Columbus, Ohio – Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook started 36 consecutive games before Saturday, but a bad right shoulder had him on the sidelines when the game kicked off.

Junior Tyler O’Connor started while sophomore Damion Terry also took snaps on the opening drive.

Cook, the fifth-year senior quarterback, injured his right throwing shoulder in last week’s victory over Maryland and sat out the second half. Cook has contended all week he’ll be fine and able to play while coach Mark Dantonio tried to avoid any discussion about Cook’s status, though he remained confident Cook would play.

But Cook was limited in warmups as O’Connor and Terry handled most of the throws.
