MSU's Conklin a Sporting News first-team All-American
Michigan State junior left tackle Jack Conklin was named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News.
It adds to a growing list for Conklin, who has earned All-America honors from USA Today (first team), Associated Press (second team), Football Writers Association of American (second team), Walter Camp (second team), and SI.com (honorable mention).
Conklin is the first Spartan offensive tackle to be named a first-team All-American since Flozell Adams in 1997.
On Monday, Conklin, fifth-year senior center Jack Allen and fifth-year senior defensive end Shilique Calhoun were named to the FWAA All-America second team, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
Iowa cornerback Desmond King of Detroit East English also was named to the Sporting News first team, and Michigan tight end Jake Butt and safety Jabrill Peppers were named to the second team.
