MSU’s odds to win national hoops title improve to 15/2

Michigan State basketball team's odds have improved to win the national title, according to a Las Vegas bookmaker.

The Spartans have a 17/2 chance to win the Big Dance, Bovada.lv. The Las Vegas bookmaker had MSU at 9/1 to win the title on Dec. 1

Since then, the Spartans started the season 13-0 only to drop the Big Ten conference opener to Iowa without its star player Denzel Valentine, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.

MSU (14-1) fell from No. 1 to No. 5 in the Associated Press rankings.

Bovada also dropped Michigan's odds of winning the title from 66/1 to 100/1 since Dec. 1.

No. 1 Kansas saw its odds increase from 12/1 to 15/2 in the same span.

Bovada also gives Valentine 7/1 odds to win Naismith College Player of the Year Award. Buddy Hield of Oklahoma has 2/3 odds of taking the honor bestowed on college basketball's top player.
