State College, Pa. – Denzel Valentine will be back on the court Sunday for Michigan State, ending his four-game absence after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Coach Tom Izzo said on the pregame show roughly an hour before No. 5 Michigan State was set to tip against Penn State that Valentine would be back in the lineup.

The senior guard injured his knee in practice on Dec. 20 and hasn’t played since. He was averaging 18.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists and had recorded two triple-doubles in the first 12 games before suffering the injury.

In his absence, the Spartans have won three games but suffered their first loss in the Big Ten opener at Iowa.
