MSU football opener vs. Furman now a Friday game

For the sixth consecutive season, Michigan State will open its football season on a Friday night.
The Spartans will host Furman on Friday, Sept. 2. It will be a night game, but the time and TV coverage have not been determined.
The game had been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 3.
Furman is an FCS team and went 4-7 last season. This will be the first meeting between MSU and Furman.
The Spartans are undefeated in their five Friday night openers, winning home games against Youngstown State in 2011, Boise State in 2012, Western Michigan in 2013 and Jacksonville State in 2014, and a road game at WMU in 2015.
