Michigan State broke open a 2-2 game with eight runs in the sixth inning Tuesday for an 11-5 victory over visiting Michigan.
The big hit was a two-run single by Kris Simonton that made it 4-2. Jordan Zimmerman and Matt Byars had RBI doubles for the Spartans (22-6).
“I’m proud of our guys, I thought we played well today,” MSU head coach Jake Boss said. “We took a lot of good swings and didn’t chase many balls out of the strike zone.”
Dominic Jamett had a two-run single for Michigan (21-8) in the nonconference game.
