College softball roundup: MSU, WSU tumble at tourneys

Illinois State beat Michigan State 6-0 on Thursday to advance to the finals of the National Invitational Softball Championship.

Michigan State left fielder Ebonee Echols had two RBIs in a 4-3 victory Thursday over Illinois State in the National Invitational Softball Championship.

The Spartans, who finished 34-24, forced a second game by scoring twice in the seventh for a 4-3 victory. Ebonee Echols had two RBI doubles, the last one winning the game. Lexi White’s double had tied it in the sixth.

Wayne State stumbles

Wayne State’s softball team (40-15) lost 3-2 at Southern Indiana in a NCAA Division II Super Regional. The teams play at 1 p.m. Friday.
