LB Darien Tipps-Clemons says he’s transferring from MSU
East Lansing — Michigan State freshman linebacker Darien Tipps-Clemons announced on Twitter on Monday that he is transferring.
The former three-star recruit from Piqua, Ohio, posted a copy of a letter from Michigan State compliance granting other universities permission to contact Tipps-Clemons regarding a potential transfer.
Tipps-Clemons was part of the 2017 recruiting class and redshirted last fall as he recovered from a knee injury that forced him to miss most of his senior season in high school.
He is the sixth player to transfer since the end of last season. Freshman wide receiver Hunter Rison left and signed with Kansas State while sophomore wide receiver Trishton Jackson will play next season at Syracuse. Redshirt freshman quarterback Messiah deWeaver announced he was transferring to East Mississippi Community College while junior running back Madre London said he’s seeking a graduate transfer, though he has not announced where he will be headed for next season.
Coach Mark Dantonio also said last month that freshman defensive end Lashawn Paulino-Bell is transferring to a community college.
