Michigan State bolstered its football and baseball recruiting classes with one commitment over the weekend.

Jase Bowen, a three-star receiver from Toledo Central Catholic, announced his commitment Saturday to Michigan State, where he plans to play both football and baseball.

“With much thought and consideration I am super excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic, football and baseball careers at Michigan State University,” Bowen tweeted. “Go Green!”

The 6-foot-1, 178-pound Bowen attended Michigan State’s spring game Saturday, and chose the Spartans over offers from the likes of Virginia, Northwestern, Kentucky, Minnesota, Cincinnati and others. He was offered a scholarship from the Spartans last month, when he met with both football and baseball coaches.

Bowen is ranked the No. 75 wide receiver in the country, according to the 247Sports composite, and No. 23 overall in Ohio.

He also plays shortstop at Toledo Central Catholic, where he was a first-team All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference selection last season, after hitting .430 with 36 runs scored and 26 stolen bases, according to the Toledo Blade.

Bowen is the fifth member of Michigan State’s 2019 football recruiting class, joining cornerback Julian Barnett (Belleville), quarterback Dwan Mathis (Oak Park), offensive tackle Spencer Brown (Walled Lake Western), and athlete Jordan Huff of Madison, Ga.
