When Oak Park quarterback Dwan Mathis was offered a scholarship by Ohio State last month, he said he remained "100 percent" committed to Michigan State.
Plenty has changed in a month.
Mathis on Sunday tweeted he will now play for the Buckeyes in 2019.
"I would like to thank msu for the many opportunities they have given me to play at their University," Mathis tweeted. "The decision weighed heavy on my heart. I would like to announce that I am officially a Buckeye!"
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Mathis is a four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite, and No. 6-ranked player in Michigan. He is the ninth-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country, and No. 251 player overall, according to the composite.
Michigan State's 2019 recruiting class, which just received a commitment Friday from Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central athlete Tate Hallock, now stands at 10 players.
Mathis was one of two four-star recruits to commit to Michigan State. Now, Belleville quarterback Julian Barnett is the lone four-star recruit for the Spartans so far.
