Michigan State will have a group of football recruits on campus Tuesday. It is an opportunity to have kids visit before both high school and Spartan practices open up.

The group will largely be made up of in-state recruits, including the eight in the 2019 class who are committed to Michigan State.

Canton defensive end Darius Robinson is uncommitted, but is one of the key remaining targets for the Spartans in this class. Robinson has Michigan State in his top group, but recently said he will back off of a planned Sept. 13 commitment date in order to take more visits. Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers and Colorado make up the rest of his top five.

He plans to visit each of those schools in the fall before making a decision.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Robinson picked up football late, but between a good junior year and strong showings at camps he has accumulated over 20 scholarship offers. Michigan State offered in June after seeing him at their lineman camp.

Austin (Tex.) St. Michael’s Academy quarterback Sam Saxton is also scheduled to visit. Saxton has become hot name in the Spartan recruiting world as he has become one of the top candidates to fill the quarterback spot in this class. Saxton (6-5, 190) has not been offered a scholarship by the Spartans yet, but has been in contact with the staff. This will be his first visit to campus.

Belleville defensive end Tyrece Woods will visit East Lansing, as well. The rising senior has offers from Michigan and Cincinnati, among others, but not from Michigan State.

Several of the state’s top juniors-to-be will also be on campus.

Two of them — East Kentwood’s Dallas Fincher and Bryce Mostella — already have offers from Michigan State. Fincher (6-4, 270) is a legacy recruit whose father, Mark, played for the Spartans. Mostella (6-6, 230) is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports. Both were offered by Ohio State on Friday and hold offers from many other Big Ten teams.

Flint Carman-Ainsworth quarterback Dustin Fletcher will be on hand along with older brother Michael, a Michigan State commit in the 2019 class. Bay City Central wide receiver Devell Washington, Gibraltar Carlson wide receiver Ian Stewart, and West Bloomfield linebacker Cornell Wheeler are expected to attend.

One out-of-state junior, St. Charles (Ill.) East’s Dylan Barrett, will also be on campus.

Barrett is a 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive lineman who holds offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue and more. Michigan State has not offered yet.

One class of 2021 prospect confirmed to be attending is West Bloomfield running back Donovan Edwards, who holds several Power Five offers and is on his way to being one of the state’s top recruits in that class.
