Houston — The official announcement comes on Monday morning, but it appears Michigan State coach Tom Izzo will be part of this year’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class.

According to posts on Twitter from Tim Brando and John Feinstein, Izzo made the cut.

Izzo is among 14 finalists and the class will be revealed at 11 a.m. Monday on ESPN’s SportsCenter. The enshrinement ceremony will be Sept. 9 at the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

Other finalists include former Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan as well as former Maryland coach Lefty Driesell and Eddie Sutton, who coached at Kentucky, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. NBA stars Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson and Yao Ming are also finalists.

This is the first year Izzo has been nominated and his one national championship, seven Final Fours and 524 career victories made him a solid bet to get in this year.
