East Lansing – Michigan State picked up its ninth commitment for its 2017 class on Thursday when defensive end Jacub Panasiuk announced he would play for the Spartans.

Panasiuk is a 6-foot-3, 226-pounder from Lake Park High in Roelle, Ill. He is also the brother of incoming Michigan State freshman Mike Panasiuk, also a defensive end.

Jacub Panasiuk made the announcement during a ceremony at his high school and chose Michigan State over offers from Minnesota, Indiana and Penn State. He is a three-star prospect that 247sports.com ranks the No. 14 recruit in the state of Illinois and No. 36 at his position in the nation.

In addition, former Michigan State players Craig Evans and Montez Sweat reportedly have found new homes at junior colleges. Evans, a defensive tackle, is heading to Arizona Western in Yuma, Ariz., and Sweat, a defensive end, will go to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss.
