Josiah Scott, a three-star cornerback from Fairfield (Ohio) High, on Sunday committed to Michigan State’s 2017 recruiting class.
Scott (5-9, 160 pounds) becomes the 16th commitment for 2017 for MSU and the second defensive back, joining safety Dominique Long of Westerville, Ohio, who committed in June.
Scott is ranked the No. 2 cornerback in Ohio by Scout.com and the No. 36 cornerback nationally.
He was offered by the Spartans last week, and moved them into his list of favorites along with Iowa, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
Scout.com analyst Dave Berk calls Scott “the most underrated kid in the state of Ohio.”
“In 20 plus years of coaching, he’s probably the best defensive back that we’ve coached,” Fairfield head coach Jason Krause said. “I’ve had some of my assistants say the same. He does every little thing you want done. He has instincts, he changes direction, plays the ball well, he’s aggressive, fast, just has all the tools you need in a defensive back.”
